National Ballroom Dance Week will be next month.  USA Dance Olympia is planning an entire day of ballroom events on Saturday, September 11th to celebrate:

at the Olympia Eagles Ballroom, 4th & Plum, Olympia

 

9 am - 10:30 am  Ages 10-17  $1/student (requires parental permission)

11 am - 12:30 pm  Ages 18-30  $1/student

 

1:30 - 3:30 pm  Waltz - Beyond Beginner, All Ages, $16 for USA Dance Members & Students, $20 Others

4:00 - 6:00 pm American Tango - Beyond Beginner, All Ages, $16 for USA Dance Members & Students, $20 Others

Please pay at the door. Bring a partner or come solo.  Walk-ins welcome.

 

7:00-8:00 Pre-dance lesson in Beginning Foxtrot with Johnny Bryant

8:00-11:00 Ballroom dancing to the Savoy Nights band

USA DANCE TACOMA. You are invited to this 9th Anniversary Dance, starting with a free dance lesson at 7 PM in West Coast Swing with NATASHA THAYER. Dance from 8 to 11 PM to live music with MAIA SANTELL AND HOUSE BLEND performing a mix of West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Ballroom and Latin. Singles and couples welcome. SHELTON ELKS DANCE. Tonight arrive at 7 PM for a dance lesson. Dance from 8 to 11:00 PM to live music by Michael & Leslie. Admission of $7 covers both the lesson and dance. Enjoy the large 40 X 25 ft dance floor and free popcorn. This dance is on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Shelton Elks Club, 741 SE Craig Rd, Shelton. DANCIN' AT THE BARN: BACK TO SCHOOL SOCK HOP. Tonight is an annual trip back in time to the 50s and 60s! Dress for the era and have fun dancing on a big 4,000 square foot hardwood floor. Music and instruction is by RON BOLIN, THE DANCIN' DJ. Arrive at 7 PM for a pre-dance lesson in Jitterbug. Then dance from 8 to 11:30 PM to great classics by Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, and many more early Rock and Roll. Snacks and beverages are available in vending machines. It's a great place for alcohol-free fun for all ages 18 and over. If you attend the pre-dance lesson for $15 you can attend the dance for free. The “dance only” is $12. Dancin' At The Barn is held on 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays. Rockin' Horse Dance Barn, 11820 150th Ave SE, Renton. DIRECTIONS: From I-405, take Exit #5. Go east up Sunset about 3 miles. Ages 21+  The beginning class from 9 to 9:30 is now free and included in the $4 cover.  For the most part the lesson will be Salsa on 1 but from time to time it might be switched up with bachata, merengue, salsa on 2 and cha cha.

Every Thursday the Tacoma Elks Singles group has a dance from 7:00-10:30 pm.  There is always live music. Elks members & their spouses attend free. BLUES dancing is alive and well in Olympia these days.
